Climate justice in India and the Pacific Islands is about fairness, equity, and resolving global inequalities, not only the environment. Vulnerable people are most affected, from the Pacific Islands struggling with rising seas and catastrophic weather to India's struggle for equality in climate funding and policy.
India supports renewable energy projects on the islands and emphasizes Common But Differentiated Responsibilities and Respective Capabilities (CBDR-RC) in solidarity with the Pacific nations. Today the Taliban head the International terrorist list, but once they were called freedom fighters (Mujahideen) and were supported by the U.S. when they were fighting the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.
There have been countless examples of political bloodshed and terrorist activity throughout South Asia. The causes and characteristics of terrorism differ throughout nations. The present wave of radicalization and terrorism poses a serious threat to the security of the South Asian region.
Jameela Rizwan at the Centre of International Relations and Strategic Studies has presented in-depth research on the issue. She has analyzed how the problem arises at the very beginning of defining the concept of ‘Terrorism’.
